The local beaches are Little Pebble & Big Pebble Beaches. Others can be found at Limanara, a short boat trip away, Kaputas on the road to Kalkan and Patara beyond Kalkan.
Big Pebble Beach
Big Pebble Beach (Buyuk Cakil Plaja) is, by definition, a pebble beach. Sunbeds and parasols are available for hire from a number of excellent beach cafés. Relaxing here is not very difficult; playing backgammon, lazing in the sun or possibly even swimming and diving.
Patara Beach
If a sandy beach is preferred, within easy reach, Patara, with it’s 11 mile long white sand beach is a must. The presence of rare breeding turtles and a vast Roman & Lycian archaeological site behind the beach has resulted in Patara Beach being made into a National Park. Consequently, apart from a well laid out bar/restaurant at the Eastern end, and a bar at the Western end there is not a single building to be seen for 11 miles. Parasols and sun beds are available for hire at both ends of this beach.
Kaputas Beach
About 20 / 30 minutes away, on the road to Kalkan, lies Kaputas Beach with it’s white sand and glorious turquoise water. A long series of steps leads down to Kaputas beach, where there is no shade by mid-day, so only the very energetic and hardy will be tempted to do more than just take ‘photos at the top!
